We all had fire call radios in our homes back when it was a volunteer fire department. I remember Dick Orth was one on my call list when a fire came in on Afton Road one night. I called him about the fire and he responded, “I know! It’s my house!” Harris and Dick will never let me live that one down.
I will never forget all the fun and hard work of cooking for the guys when they came back from a fire. Wonderful relationships were made with all the families. My two children, Holly and Glenn, still talk about certain things they did with the other kids at the fire hall. We always worked hard, but we played hard as well.
